Star Trek and Doctor Who Crossover!

Not since Alien vs Predator has a franchise mash-up made us come over as giggly and girly as this one.

Think about it. Star Trek: The Next Generation and Doctor Who, two of the all-time most loved, grandest Sci Fi franchises EVER!

Such deep and volatile material combined could result in anything!

The complete reversal of the Space-Time continuum.

Romulans and Vulcans living together in harmonious and state-sanctioned mixed marriages.

Interview With An Exorcist

Yes, exorcists are real, and they help out on Hollywood movies.

I had a fascinating chat with the Reverend Bob Larson, who has been sharing his expertise in exorcisms with the good people who created 'The Devil Inside'.

He spoke of his 100% belief in the devil as a tangible evil and the proof that comes with performing 'fifteen exorcisms a day', which seems like a very busy and scary schedule.

The idea that people 'just snap' to him is proof of demonic possession. He seems like such a nice guy? Well, so says Reverend Bob, he was. And then he was possessed.

John Carter's 'Barsoom' Legacy - From 1912 to 2012

The marketing juggernaut for Disney’s tentpole John Carter is shifting up a gear ahead of its (Australian) March 8 release, so in aid of this, a new promo video has been released.

Titled 'John Carter Legacy', the promo features new (and admittedly eye-dazzlingly cool) footage as well as various members of the cast and creative team talking about the new film. It also reveals (as its title suggests) the marketing team’s genius idea for a point of difference. Which is?

Lost Girl's Anna Silk Says Thanks - To You - And More!

So hands up who spent Sunday glued to the box reliving the Fae fun in Sci Fi’s Lost Girl Season 1 Marathon?

I’d actually forgotten how AWESOME the series is.

There’s something so genuinely subversive about Lost Girl that I can’t help but get into it. I admit, I hunkered down on Sunday, clutching my Star Trek plush Spock doll, cans of Coke Zero lined up for the caffeine ride, blinds pulled down to block out the one day of sunshine this summer has brought us, and geeked out to Bo, Kenzi and the gang.
Robopocalypse has been out for a while. And everyone knows that it’s Spielberg’s next project. Hell, Spielberg was busy saying it was his next project before the novel had even been released. Gee, I wonder what that did for sales?

Sent them to the top of the New York Times Bestseller List, that’s what.

People fell over themselves to salivate about how much they loved Loved LOVED this book – Stephen King, Clive Cussler, The Wall Street Journal. I mean, check out the book’s Wikipedia page, it’s pretty much just a list of how much people loved it.

The Week in Geek Issue # 94

Welcome gentle readers!

The writer’s been at his standard level of grumpy this week, but there’s been news that’s had him air guitaring for joy – not only are his beloved Iron Maiden are touring the world again, it’s another ‘We’re only playing the old stuff’ tour! Australia dates haven’t been announced, but he lives in hope.  In barely less important news, Eyecon 2012’s new website is up! Registration’s not open yet, ...
I don’t know why anyone bothers trying to mess with the classic TV sci fi series to reboot or reimagine them.

I mean, honestly, has ANYTHING good EVER come from it?

Okay, apart from Star Trek: Next Generation… and Deep Space Nine. And Voyager.

Yes, and apart from Battlestar Galactica.

Hoping to emulate such noble enterprises, the good folks over at ITV Studios America, in conjunction with Jace Hall, the creative force behind the recent “V” reimagining, have decided to take the classic British 70’s sci fi Space: 1999, and travel into the future with it. One hundred years into the future, to…

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's that very special time of the year.

February 14, the day the Mass Effect 3 Demo becomes available.

And Valentine's Day!

Will you do something romantic, and a little bit geeky?

Pour some Romulan Ale, maybe a dash of synthehol if you're driving. Set the holodeck to 'Paris' or 'Riisa', or look out the back of the moisture farm and contemplate the suns set.

A fine dish of spoo, a cool blue milk, or, if it's a first date, nothing beets 'ga'ak' as an ice-breaker.

Whatever you do, remember that everywhere, all around you, are people who know that there is only one correct answer to "I love you".

Mass Effect 3 - 5 Trailers You Need To See

Mass Effect 3 is hurtling towards us faster than the Reapers toward Earth.

The anticipation is reaching fever pitch. This is the crowning glory of the greatest gaming trilogy EVER. And as trilogy-cappers go, it looks like its relationship to its predecessors is going to be more akin to Return of the King than Return of the Jedi (no, I don’t care what you say, ROTJ is the weakest of the three).

So what is game developer BioWare doing to help us as we tense up in ever-more quivering, salivating, impatient expectancy?
