What was just a name has now become a super hero.
By mixing his job title and his most famous film role, the recently retired Governor of California has become... The Governator.
Not one to let the opportunity slip by, none other than Stan Lee jumped at the chance to create a new super hero, and big Arnie is up for it in a big way.
The Governator was initially announced as a live action series, but at the moment, it’ll be an animated TV series and a comic book, out in 2012.
One can imagine the comic-to-big screen translation can’t be too far away. The trick, really, is to find someone who can play Arnold Schwarzenegger. Oh, hang on.

The 'Facebook Experiment' continues.
Warner Bros is now releasing more films via Facebook in an expanding test on distributing films via the internet.
It's baby steps at the stage, and still, for what ever mad reason, regionailzed, but what will more than likely become the norm for film distribution in the next few years has started - digital supply, direct from the studio.
At the moment, it's via Facebook, not surprising, given the more than half billion users.
US users can now watch Inception, Harry Potter 1 & 2, and testing the boundaries of consumer demand, Yogi Bear and Life As We Know It by renting with Facebook credits.

Sci Fi is awesome, and Sci Fi literature, especially Australian, is doubly so.
SpecFaction NSW, organisers of the 2010 Aurealis Awards, have announced the finalists for the 2010 Aurealis Awards.
Judging Coordinator, Keith Stevenson, said that with approximately 600 entries across the thirteen categories, the judges had a big task.
“Overall, the judges agreed that the entries had been of a high standard. In a number of the categories the judges informed us that they had trouble coming down to a shortlist of five with many worthy entries just missing out on being included. I’d like to extend my thanks to all the judges for their time and professionalism in the judging of these awards.”

Whilst the emotional aftershocks of the Japanese earthquake continue to ripple throughout the world, there is one upside to this tragedy - the way the world has responded - with open hearts.
It seems everyone, everywhere, wants to help out, offering whatever support they can. One of the more unusual and spontaneous outpourings of support has now come from Victor Lucas and his team at The Electric Playground, who've organised the global videogame community to come together to create a special video project to show their appreciation for the Japanese game industry and to raise awareness for Red Cross relief efforts for the people of Japan.

This week sees an awesome onslaught of Sci Fi-ness as Warehouse 13 celebrates Christmas - on April Fool's Day.
You know something's going to go wrong, don't you?
After the ground-shaking (literally) events of ‘Reset’ the Warehouse 13 team are back in this fun packed Season Finale to a storyline that has more twists and turns than Aesclipius’ staff (handy artefact, that one!).
With a name like ‘Secret Santa’ you can expect a Christmas theme this episode as Pete and Myka have to deal with an evil Santa (aren’t they all evil, though, like clowns?) as everyone else gets to ‘relax’ over the holidays. It’s crazy Warehouse 13 fun - and you’d be crazy to miss it!

Charlie Ross, the epically talented man behind One Man Star Wars, is back to his old tricks again, this time with The Lord of The RIngs.
As one of the world's most talented Canadians, he brings his unique talents, skill set and 'passion' (yes, he's an obsessed nerd) to a stageshow that is both heartwarmingly reminiscent of the greatest stories of the modern age - and hilarious.
If you've not seen him perform, there are plenty of videos on the net where you will see a man become a movie. Or a movie trilogy. Either way, it's impressive.

Why you would like to win a close encounter with the stars of Paul, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost?
If you can tell us that, in 25 words or less, then you'll be in the running to do just that!
Directed by Greg Mottola, Paul is a Sci Fi friendly action adventure comedy that sees Simon Pegg and Nick Frost doing to Sci Fi what they did to Zombies in Shaun of the Dead and cops in Hot Fuzz - only, with more love.
The film centres on Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Frost) whose pilgrimage through America’s UFO heartland to Area 51 takes an (un) expected turn when they meet an alien escapee named Paul. The film’s cast also includes Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Sigourney Weaver, Blythe Danner and Seth Rogen as the voice of Paul the alien.

After the muted reception to Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, you can be forgiven if you were somewhat surprised at the news that a fourth film in the Underworld franchise had been greenlit.
Even more surprising, that Kate Beckinsale was returning in here iconic role of Selene.
Selene, the Vampiric death-dealer who caused a whole lot of trouble for vampires and werewolves alike (although not necessarily in that order) was the focus of the first two films, Underworld (2003), and Underworld: Evolution (2006). The third film, released in 2009, was directed by creature designer Patrick Tatopoulos in his debut as film director, saw the story return to its roots, being an expansion of a pivotal scene in the first film, and not featuring Kate Beckinsale at all.

Whether we like it or not, a new Wonder Woman is coming to town, via David E. Kelley.
Yes, the creator of Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope and The Practice is moving into the super hero business.
It has come as a bit of shock to the nerdcore. Joss Whedon, before he took over filming of The Avengers, actually wrote a Wonder Woman feature script. Dr George Miller was all set to go with a Justice League of America film in 2008, which would have featured Aussie supermodel Megan Gale as Wonder Woman.
